A little while ago my wife changed. She had gastric bypass surgery over a year ago, I have been fully supportive in this and any other thing she does. We have a great marriage of 3 years and have been together for 5. We had an argument a couple of weeks ago- same sort of run of the mill argument that we have had before. It was a bit different, it is time to get help to get over the same humps we come to. I am not perfect and have some behaviors I need to work on, but nothing horrible. I tend to spend too much time on the computer, yet I am here and help with things, I totally isolate. I started working on that and she started going away more. I then found out that she took all of our money out of savings (almost 3 g's), had her check stopped direct deposit into our checking. She took the day off from work and went to a town about an hour away and shopped. I tried asking her what was going on- I had no clue. I thought that what she did was way over the top for just an argument. If I beat her, and drank like a fish everyday I would not be surprised of her behavior. At first the talks seemed to center around me and my behavior - which I tried to keep it to anyway. The things that I normally do, and have been working on were an issue. She now is starting to come around, and feel bad for her behavior because it is affecting me badly. I am just trying to be patient and understanding and supportive. It is hard not to take it personally. I see where she is trying to figure things out. I do not feel in my gut that she is cheating but a lot of the things I am seeing can be interpreted as that except for one major difference- she is not sidestepping my approaches. The symptoms can also be using drugs also. She went to see a psych, and doesn't think that it is possible to be diagnosed so quickly. She does have epilepsy and depression and remember she has changed her weight physically. She was mad that the psych was focusing on her wanting to leave me and why. I assured her that she wanted to know why because of what I had mentioned above. We have an appointment with a counselor. Anyone have any experience with a bi polar spouse?
also, one day I was the best guy in the world and literally the next day I couldn't do anything good enough. She was saying that I was controlling with finances, we have the same joint account where we have a budget and we each have an allowance from that.
A Dr. Did diagnose her as bi polar and my wife doesn't really want to recognize it yet anyway.
She said she was preparing to leave me, that she was on the defensive, she made a split second decision. She said the money has not been touched that it's just in another account. Trust me our marriage isn't perfect and we do have issues to resolve but nothing so pressing as to require leaving- I don't drink, beat her or the kids haven't cheated on her. Up to this point we have had a great marriage and it's better than it has been- up until this point.

on this incident, he picked up a pedestal fan and hit me acroos the face because i was doing laundry while i was listening the radio-noraduio, and I called the police. I reported the other times but did not press charges becase his symptoms he displayed were bipolar/manic behaviour. I told him afeter the 2nd time, that if it ever happen again I would call the police; they came, arrested,and let out the next day 4/1 w/o a restraing order. he told me he would lie, and before they arrived he would lie again. He hit me in my face with a pedestal fan---all I could think was about all his guns, and he promised to kill me. I CALLED the police! I had no choice.

so i been with this guy for a while, almost a year. we've known each other longer than that though. about 6 months in to us actually dating, i experienced one of his bipolar moods swings for the first time. he never told me he was bipolar and so when he started snapping at me over tiny things, calling me names, and finally ignoring me and saying he doesnt even want to talk to me anymore, i was crushed. it felt like he was dumping me for no reason and i just couldnt handle that. i need closure when relationships end, or i cant let them go, and everytime i asked him why we were over he would just say "i dont know."
well, im kind o ashamed to say it, but i begged him to stay with me. ive never beeged a guy to be with me before, but ive also never been in love before. that and the fact that it still didnt feel like the relationship was over (since i had no closure) led me to beg him. it was pathetic. but finally, he took me back. the same night he took me back, i could tell he had went back to the old guy, the nice one that i loved. when im older, i hope to be a psychiatrist, so i recognized this as a symptom of bipolar disorder and i asked him if he ever thought that he had it. he said hes about 90% sure that he does have it but he refuses to get help. he gets FURIOUS with me everytime i bring it up so that isnt really an option. anyways, hes been pretty normal lately. until about 3 days ago. hes turned into the "other Kody" (thats what i call him when hes in a "low" mood). hes pretty much dumped me again. no, worse. he hasnt dumped me, hes just ignoring me. i dont know if we are together or not.
which brings me to my question. i know its just the disorder talking. as someone very interested in psychiatry, i understand that he cant help it. but i cannot bring myself to beg for him again. my pride wont let me. so im thinking ill just leave him alone and wait till he goes back to normal Kody. but i dont know when that will be and when he goes back to normal i dont want him to have forgotten about me. we've talked about how he acts when hes "mean Kody" and he says hes sorry he treats me that way and that he will "ALWAYS come back" to me. hes even proposed (i said no though, at least until our relationship is more stable). i dont want to lose him. when things are good, they are amazing. we sit and talk and play checkers or something random. but when hes low, its like hes a sex addicted (we havent had sex yet, so hes like a compulsive masturbator), psychopath who says whatever he thinks will hurt me the most. he isnt like this with anyone else, just me. WHY? ugh, anyways, my question is, what should a person with a bipolar spouse do when their loved one is having an episode? do i leave him alone, and let him come back when hes ready? or do i stay on him constantly, like i did last time?

and please, dont just tell me to dump him. its much easier said then done. hes perfect for me in every way except this one. i just need help...

from day one my boyfriend said he had bipolar disorder i assumed he was just moody.
he hasn't been dignosed that i know of..
how can i tell if he's bipolar and what signs are there for this disorder?

he also becomes very hateful when he's going through his mood swings.
he'll say he hates me, wants me to move out, says i'm a slut... i was just curious if anything else has experinced this or anything like it and if it's normal..

I have lived with someone for the past 4 years that I love very much but our children do not all get along. We both have 3 children two 18year old boys, one 16year old boy, one 15 year old boy who is disabled, one 12 year old girl and one 6year old girl, the 2 oldest boys and the youngest girl live with the other parents. I feel like I am stuck like a rock in a hard place. My spouse's 16 year old son and I got into an argument recently and he went to his mothers house. He is refusing to come back until I move out. His mothers house is not a good healthy environment to live in. So I don't have a choice but to leave because he has to come first. I really do care about him and I want what is best for him. He hates my 15 year old son because he can be annoying at times. My son is epeilitic, has AD HD, Bipolar and has a form of autism. They are constantly trying to anoy each other and I have had to step in alot of the times. My son can not be left alone because of the seizers he is picked on in school and at home by his son. He is on alot of medicine so he does not have a happy life it is hard for him to sit back and watch the other kids do things that he is not able to do. I have tried to treat all the kids the same, I have tried to treat his son better than mine at times to make him feel like he is special and that we did not just move in and take his dad away from him. My spouce tries to treat them all the same as well.He works nights and because I lost my job a few weeks ago I am left to deal with the kids. Our house is like teenage heaven we have all the games systems ,computer, pool table ect.. I still try to make my children follow some sort of structure but not any thing hard. They have to set the table, help with dinner, put away their clothes sometimes help in the yard. If they want to go somewhere like to the movies they will have to earn the money doing chores but every one has to help. My children and I usually work together and do things while his son sits and play's video games. This upsets my kids. When his dad is around he will sometimes help us but other wise he only helps his dad outside to get gas money. My kids have to chores every day. His son picks at my kids and they pick back and every evening it is constant bickering and it makes me have to get involved and then I am bickering too. No one is happy and when I tried to talk to his dad he is wishy washy with his son because he wants him to stay here and I understand that but he has to walk with kid gloves on to do so. His son was arguing with my kids and I had to step in before someone got hurt. I desided to lay down the law and I said no phones, eletronics, no games no tv and told all of them to go outside, His son refused and said no he was not going out my kids went out and he layed on the couch and watched TV Thats when I lost my temper and I just quit talking to him but I was not a pleasent person to be around. so I took his xbox live game that I bought for eveyone to share away and said he could have it back when his dad said he could. The next day when I get home he is playing the game I took, so when he went to bed I took it again and hid it. The day after that he wanted me to pick him up at school at 4 but because I had to pick my daughter up He had to waiit at school so I would make only one trip he got into a fight with my son over the clicking of a pen. My son knew it was anoying him so he kept it up. His jumped up in the front seat and snapped the pen in lots of little pieces. He threaten to hit me with a 2litter of soda pop and I told him to go ahead and do it because I was realy mad and extreemly fustrated!!! He Asked me what my problem was and I said you and said you are being A***** the ride home he was stewing and kept pushing on my seat and looking at my speed. the second we got home he called his mom to come get him and now he will not come back untill we leave his house. I know I handeled this situation all wrong but I snaped and I can't fix this. I sunk all of my savings into things for the household and now I lost my job and have nowhere to go with 2 children. I am at my wits end and it could be weeks before I get unemployment or a tax refund. Who is going to rent to someone with no job. I love my spouce and belive it or not I love his kids. I am looking for work but I can't just up and leave. I have no one to blame but myself I should have just bit my tounge and dealt with my kids. Even if I leave I will still be seeing his dad. I need some kind of direction. Help!!!
